The Adoption Process
We’re excited that you’ve decided to pursue adding a greyhound to your life. Here’s our process.
Step 1
Research the breed. Decide that a greyhound is the perfect dog for you. Check out our guide to the breed here.
Step 2
Step 3
Submit an application. Within 24 hours, you will receive an email from our Adoption Coordinator to schedule a phone interview.
Step 4
During the telephone interview, our Adoption Coordinator will learn all about you and what you’re looking for in a dog.
Step 5
Then, our Adoption Coordinator will call your veterinary references and personal references.
Step 6
Once you’re approved, our Adoption Coordinator will recommend the greyhound best suited for you and schedule your home visit.
Step 7
At your home visit, our Adoption Coordinator will point out any safety concerns and answer any additional questions you have. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet your match one-on-one in the privacy of your own home.
Step 8
The final step is to sign on the dotted line and make it official!

The Not-so-Fine Print.
Please note that we only adopt within a 60-mile radius of the greater Toledo, OH area.
We also require that all adopters have a fence with a minimum height of 42 inches. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Board of Directors. Invisible Fences are NOT permitted.
Adoption Fees
All Greyhounds
(under the age of 7)
Senior Dogs (over the age of 7)
OR Special Needs Dogs
Note: All adoption fees are non-refundable.
Your newly adopted greyhound will come with a:
2 Hounds Martingale Collar, Leash, & HArness
Basket Muzzle
In addition, NCGC offers an adoption package that includes an elevated feeder stand with stainless steel bowls, a package of waste bags, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a grooming glove, a squawker, and a one-year membership to NCGC. This adoption fee is $425 or $325 respectively.
